A paradise
In all of history, the notion of paradise was significant. Its strength lies in its ability to make human existence meaningful and livable regardless of the fact that it's always temporary. Paradise is an oasis of peace and abundance. It is a place outside of the normal era and is therefore invulnerable to sickness, crime or death. It is also a land filled with people who are eternally healthy and young.
Paradise is described in many different ways, from the Garden of Eden of the Bible to the lush Pacific Ocean islands of novels and Gauguin's paintings. Even in the present the rise of communes, and the resurgence of interest in gardening and outdoor life can be viewed as a signification of paradise. In reality the word "utopian" conjures up images of a paradise. While not all utopias are religious, they often contain motifs of paradise and are designed to realize some of the characteristics of paradise under actual conditions.
There are many different definitions for the word "paradise however, the majority of them refer to a state of extreme beauty or enjoyment. It can also be the ideal place for a particular activity or hobby. For instance, a golfer’s paradise or a hummingbird's paradise. In a religious context, it could refer to heaven and the heaven where the righteous go after they die.
Different languages have used the word paradise, however it was originally derived from the ancient Iranian language of Avestan. The word is pairidaeza or "walled enclosure," from the roots pairi, "around," and daeza, "wall." It became part of the Hebrew and other Aramaic scriptures as paradeisos and changed to Greek, where it became paradise.
In the Bible, paradise is the Garden of Eden, where the first couple lived in a stunning environment that was free of disease and death. When they rebelled against God and sinned they lost their paradise. In later Bible prophecies, paradise is seen as a place in the eschatological future where a happy humanity will live forever. The term "paradise" could also be a reference to a state of happiness, either psychological or spiritual, and happiness.
